Anyone ever seen a dog dream?I have.Yesterday afternoon, after I came back from the golf course,I found my dog Blade lying on the floor, but I didn't think he was sleeping cause his legs keeped moving,oh my,he was dreaming,a dog can dream? The scene before my eyes made me believe so. I thought he dreamed he was running for even though he was lying on the floor, his four legs keeped on doing the running move, then suddenly,he waked, jumped up,and bumped onto a wall, then he was totally waked up,skaking his head. The first time I saw a dog dream, incredible,it's so funny.haha...

I have an old German Shepherd and I have noticed for some years that she dreams. I even know sometimes what the dreams are basically about. (I have spent far too much time with this dog. I know she, on the other hand, thinks I spend too much time playing golf.)
The dog has this dream where she starts growling under her breath and tensing up, and then after several moments she stops growling and then starts wagging her tail. All this while clearly asleep.
I realised a while back I used to see her do this all the time– when she was awake - where we used to live. Our place and the house next door didn’t have a fence and the dog got very friendly with the old couple next door.
When people came in their front gate you could hear them come in but trees and shrubs obscured the view so you couldn’t see who it was. When they got further up the path towards the side of the house you could see who it was. So the dog would sense someone coming in the gate and prick up her ears and start a low growl – just in case. Then when they were further up and she could recognise who it was and that she knew them, she would wag her tail.
So I think she keeps repeating that sort of scenario in her dreams. Growling when “strangers” are approaching and then wagging her tail when she sees who it is.
But maybe the dreams are different than I think. Maybe she is growling when she sees me walking towards my golf clubs, thinking I am about to disappear for most of the day, and then wags her tail when she sees I am just getting out a pitching wedge and will take her for a walk in the reserve out the back while I practice.
